Police say they’ve solved a 1988 West Roxbury, Massachusetts slaying, and are charging the victim’s ex-boyfriend.
Twenty-three years after Janet A. Phinney disappeared from her home, her ex-boyfriend has been charged with killing the hair stylist and dumping her body in the woods in The Grove neighborhood in West Roxbury.
Phinney was last seen by her sister on March 18, 1988, when both were in the family’s home on Cedar Road.
The partially clothed body of the 20-year-old was found by a neighbor three days later in the woods behind the home. A medical examiner concluded she had been strangled. Police investigated, but couldn’t solve the case.
